Bassetlaw Action Centre.

Do you realise the large range of services offered to the elderly and disabled in our area by the Bassetlaw Action Centre?

Here is the list:

The Community Car scheme for those needing assistance to travel , available by prior arrangement for a reasonable cost.

The Community Car scheme Plus which is similar to above but for the disabled and wheel chair users. (Volunteer drivers are needed for these services-expenses paid).

Community mini-bus. This used by the Action Centre for day trips. It is also available for hire to other groups.

Housing Choice: Advice on moving to more suitable accommodation or adapting present abode.

Share a Ride: Organising shared transport to work.

Energy advice: How to stay warm in cold weather and get the best energy tariff. A person will come to your home to help you to get the best deal.

Self Help Link: The Action Centre offers to link existing help groups both with each other and with possible recipients.

Stroke Information Service: Provides information for stroke victims, their families and carers.

Advice is given on completing benefit forms, looking at housing needs, linking with other survivors or just providing a listening ear.

Staying Well: The Staying Well Expert Patients Programme is a chronic disease self -management course aimed at helping those living with long term conditions to maintain a better quality of life.

Home Support; This offers a range of services from shopping, laundry, cleaning, light meal preparation etc. (Cost is £14 per hour ; minimum time is one hour).

The Action Centre is always looking for volunteers, so if you have a few hours to spare why not drop in to the Centre to find out more. It is open Mon.-Fri. From 9am to 1pm and is situated on Canal Street Retford, (opposite The Little Theatre). Tel. 01777 709650.
