Sturton le Steeple – Finance and budget for 2017 -2018

This year the Parish Council voted to increase the Parish Precept by £1,500 to a total of £18,000. The additional £1,500 is allocated to village projects which may include repairs to play equipment or additional traffic calming measures. The total cost to residents for services provided by the Parish Council during 2017/18 is £93.25 for a Band D Council payer representing a rise of only 64 p per month. For approximately £7.77 per month the work of your Council represents excellent value for money. All councillors are volunteers and give their time freely to support the village, making Sturton a great place to live. The Council will be receiving a grant from Bassetlaw for the lengthsman although sadly this may be the last year that this grant is paid. Many residents have commented on the great job done by our Lengthsman Jack Foster – keeping the highways and footpaths clear and the grass around the village hall cut The Council is applying for various new grants to replace a couple of worn out benches and also for some brand-new playground equipment. There are no guarantees that we will be awarded the money of course but the Council will do its best to increase the income for the village Finally, we have a vacancy on the Parish Council and would urge anyone who is interested in putting something back into the village to get in touch with the Chair – Karen Howard on 07968 125903 or the Clerk – Sara Stilliard on 01427 – 881582
